Two traditional ryokan stays, with hot-spring bathing in the Fuji-Hakone region and the Japanese Alps.
Temple districts, Gion's preserved streets, and a choice of Arashiyama's bamboo groves or classical Nara.
Castles, markets, neon-lit canals and the country's most celebrated street food.
Preserved mountain villages and historic towns in the Japanese Alps.
